The Missing 360 Degrees
A six-color, 40-inch Planeta at Kösel in Kempten was ready for Monday production—except the new ink ductor timing kept acting like an intermittent fault. It wasn’t intermittent at all. It was a geometry problem hiding inside a 720-degree cycle.
After an all-night troubleshooting session, the breakthrough came in a Gasthaus in the Allgäu at around three in the morning. The encoder was faithfully counting 0 to 360 degrees, but the impression cylinder lived in a 720-degree world.
